How to Apply for a Rescue Animal

As an animal rescue we have a responsibility to ensure that the animals we release for homing are going to a safe and healthy environment where they will be loved and cared for properly - it is no use sending an animal somewhere, only to have it turn up abandoned again in the future. Therefore by necessity suitable vetting of applicants is part of our standard procedure.

Our Procedure

  1. Firstly you need to call us and tell us what type of animal you are looking for and to tell us a bit about your circumstances. We then try to match you with an animal that is available for rehoming. If we think we have a suitable animal for you we will call you and invite you to visit. On the visit you can spend time with the animal and see if you both get used to eachother.

  2. Assuming all goes well and you express a desire to home we need to establish the suitability of that animal to your home arrangements. For example some animals are not suited to homes with small children, or where you have other pets in the home already.

  3. Assuming everything is OK, the next step is for one of our team to visit your home to assess the suitability of your home environment for your chosen pet. As well assessing the general surroundings we may have to take into consideration specifics, such as fencing where dogs are concerned and busy roadways where cats are concerned etc. We may ask you to make some changes where we feel it necessary before we can consider releasing the animal to you.

  4. If you have a suitable environment for your chosen animal, then the next step is another visit to see the animal to varify your desire to home it and to collect it. We do ask for a set donation for each animal, which helps defer the cost of housing and feeding the animal up until that point.

  5. Now it is time for the paperwork! We do ask you to sign a document undertaking to look after and care for the animal in which you also give a moral undertaking to follow certain guidelines for the welfare of the animal. Prior to collection the animal will have been microchipped.

  6. When collecting your pet please ensure you have suitable means of transportation, such as a sturdy cat basket, or a suitable lead and car harness for a dog.

If you feel that you might be able to offer a home to one of our animals or would like further information then please give us a call on 023 8055 9552.
