Open Day & Fun Dog Show 2011
What a wonderful man Fred Dinenage is. He opened our Open Day and Fun Dog Show on 3rd July with a smile, a handshake and photo opportunity to all of the 450 people in the first flush out of 1,200 that visited us that day. For 45 minutes from the first to last person he graciously gave his time with no airs or graces. He really is a lovely man. I asked his wife who came along as well if he was just as nice at home, she replied what you see is what you get. It really was a pleasure to have Fred and his wife at our Rescue.
The Open Day was a great success, with over 1200 people coming through our gate. After not having an Open Day last year it was a pleasure to be back.
We invited 15 other animal rescue charities to attend and we hope that they all did well. We raised £9,972.45 on the day, this will pay for approx 7 months worth of vets bills.
We would like to thank the 86 people who helped on the day, manning stalls, putting up tents, clearing the grounds and looking after the animals amongst many other things.
Then of course we must mention all the people who gave up their time on the days running up to the event, picking up tables, and all the other things needed to put on an event such as this. We would not be able to put on the show without them.
Thanks also to Tim Swanborough who camped out overnight to make sure no-one vandalised our tents enabling us to get going early in the morning.
Sue Humphreys and team for running the dog show so well.
Alison and Wayne O’Rourke and The Jets Flyball Team.
Smiths Farm at Curdridge for donating the bales of straw for the Dog Scurry
Jane Patchett for getting into the mood and putting on a great display to start the Dog Show
And of course special thanks must go to the following people who kindly in this time of recession donated prizes for the raffle and tombolas

Also could we ask if there is anyone that would be willing to give us a few hours of their time to do a bit of gardening for us please.

Many thanks go to Marcus Toomey who recently completed a sponsored cycle ride on our behalf. The fact that he completed it wearing a huge dog suit in quite warm weather made it even harder work! We are extremely grateful to Marcus and thank him sincerely for the wonderful £200 he raised for us
